BASIC CRITERIA FOR ALL SCHOLARSHIPS
Here is the list of Basic Criteria that must be followed when applying for a Scholarship offered by the Air Cadet Foundation of British Columbia. Please ensure that you read this information carefully!
- Applications must be received by midnight on April 30th. Winners will be announced before the end of June. Payment is made by end of July. Awards will be presented by a representative of the Air Cadet Foundation of BC.
- High academic standing is required – an academic transcript must be included or explanation why it is not.
- Open to all BC Air Cadets who are actively pursuing a career as a pilot, AME or in an aviation related career.
- Applicants must have completed at least three years of Air Cadet Squadron training.
- Applications for aged out cadets will be accepted within twelve months of their 19th birthday or under special
circumstances at the discretion of the Scholarship Selection Committee. - Each applicant must attach a letter from the Squadron Commanding Officer identifying:
- Number of training years completed
- Most recent rank and any awards obtained
- Summer training camps attended
- Number of years of Ground School attended
- If Glider or Private Pilot licence obtained
- A statement from the applicant must also be included indicating why they should receive the award, their scholastic and personal achievements, and their goals.
- All applications for flying scholarships must be accompanied by copies of Transport Canada flight test and written examination results for the licences held (Private and/or Commercial).
- Training must occur in Canada.
- Letters of recommendation from personal contacts are very helpful to include in your application.
- The applicant must demonstrate how the training will contribute to their aviation career.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered and will be rejected. Ensure that all required documents are included.
TIP: Provide as much information as you can for the Selection Committee – the better your presentation, the more opportunity for success your application will have. Good luck!
