Scholarship Program for BC Air Cadets
Each year, as many Air Cadets are graduating from High School and are nearing the end of their Air Cadet careers, this is the time when Cadets are contemplating their future and trying to plan a career path. The Foundation recognizes the financial pressures faced by BC Air Cadets who are pursuing studies in the aviation and aerospace industries.
For BC Air Cadets who are seeking a career, there are many opportunities that are available; careers in Medicine, Finance, Legal, Teaching, and many of the Trades, to mention just a few. This can make it a daunting task to try and choose the right fit.
There are also a number of career paths for Cadets to follow within the Aviation and Aerospace Industries. From a Commercial Pilot, to Piloting a helicopter to Piloting a bush plane in the great Canadian north. Within both the AME Program and the Aerospace Industry there are numerous vocations within those categories.
In order to provide financial assistance for Cadets, the Foundation is pleased to provide over $50,000 worth of scholarships for the ensuing year.
BC Air Cadets can apply for Scholarship awards ranging from $2,500 to $7,500. Winning any scholarship is a valuable addition to a Cadet resume. Reference letters, transcripts and a complete application are particularly important to the Scholarship Committee; explaining why you require financial assistance is also expected. Applications are treated in the strictest of confidence.
While most people automatically think of aviation and relate that to a Commercial Pilot, there are many other career opportunities, in the aviation industry such as:
Aerospace Engineers | Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) |
Air Traffic Controllers | Airport Management Positions |
Airport Support Positions | Flight Attendants |
Aviation Positions in the RCAF | Careers with Transport Canada |
There is a serious shortage of qualified personnel to fill the numerous positions within the Airline industry. We encourage all BC Air Cadets to consider the many career opportunities available when planning their future goals and ambitions.
