Seven BC Air Cadets Make History
On July 7, 2026, seven British Columbia Air Cadets were formally recognized as the inaugural recipients of the Jeanne L. Karcz (JLK) Aviation Scholarship Awards, marking a historic milestone for youth aviation education in British Columbia.
The Air Cadet Foundation of British Columbia launched its Scholarship Award Program on March 9, 2026, introducing five award categories.
The Directors of the Foundation unanimously approved the recommendations of the Award Selection Committee, confirming the following BC Air Cadets as the first-ever recipients of the listed Awards:
The JLK Commercial Pilot Scholarship – $7500
- WO2 Jerry Fan, 147 Airwolf RCACS, Chilliwack
The JLK Private Pilot Scholarships – $5000
- WO2 Julius Mann, 893 Beaufort RCACS, Qualicum Beach
- WO1 Amanat Harry, 861 Silver Fox RCACS, Chilliwack
- WO2 Max Duncan, 386 Komox RCACS, Comox
- WO2 Jay Thiessen, 232 Red Lion RCACS, Vernon
- WO1 Daniel Reuter, 222 Shuswap RCACS, Salmon Arm
The JLK Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Scholarship – $5000
- WO2 Aithan Tam, 808 Coquitlam RCACS, Coquitlam
Official award notification letters were sent to each of these outstanding cadets. In the coming months, arrangements will be made to personally present Award Certificates to commemorate and celebrate their exceptional achievements.
The Air Cadet Foundation of British Columbia congratulates these seven remarkable young leaders for their dedication, discipline, and commitment to advancing their aviation education. Their accomplishments honour the legacy of Jeanne L. Karcz and inspire future generations of BC Air Cadets.
